Time for one of my favourite graphic novels/comic books of the Modern Age: SCOTT PILGRIM!
I’m going to start this with a personal anecdote: this film, Scott Pilgrim vs. the World, was what got me into reading the series. I remember seeing promo for the film and its quirkiness, awkwardness, dorkiness, and just its self-confidence in it being so different from everything coming out made me want to go out and watch this movie. I was about 17 when the movie came out (you can do the math) and I just related to it so much! Maybe not the superheroes or having to fight through someone’s relationship baggage to date them, but just the weirdness in Scott Pilgrim made me be like, “I know you, buddy!” So, after watching this film, I went into reading the series. AND IT’S CANADIAN! SHOUT-OUT TO MY FELLOW CANADIANS!
(I also own a graphic tee and the film’s OST, and I own the first book Scott Pilgrim’s Precious Little Life Vol. 1. I really like this series and the movie!)
