Dirk is the kind of hyper-empath that has to pause the film and walk around whenever a character does anything embarrassing.

Dirk watches, fascinated, whenever a character does anything embarrassing because he’s remembering when he did that exact same thing.

Dirk’s lived out a surprising number of terrible fanfiction tropes in his short but dramatic life and by gosh, he goes crimson whenever one happens on-screen.

Todd and Farah catch on pretty quickly, although she doesn’t love it when Todd teases Dirk. Todd makes a game of it fairly soon after, and Farah can’t help but participate. They find more and more obscure B roll and C roll films, old straight-to-VHS tapes, romance animes with the worst, weirdest, and most overused tropes and take bets on whether or not Dirk will get embarrassed.

Somehow, it’s still shocking every time they discover a new kind of meet-cute or trashy trope and Dirk has to walk away, ears fire engine red, just missing it as Todd slides yet another ten dollar bill to Farah.
