I should clarify. There are a few reasons.

1. Let Dirk be asexual. Let the “not my thing” about Beast mean everyone is not his thing. Let the glow sticks thing represent that Dirk just trusted Todd to hold his glow sticks while he went to talk to Bart.
2. Related: just let Dirk and Todd be friends. Explore healthy, non toxic male friendships on tv more. When Todd says “he’s my friend” let him actually mean “he’s my friend and I wanna support his wacky holistic ways cos I care about him and concerned for his safety.” Crush the idea that all men must instinctively want sexual and romantic relationships, and let Dirk just need friends. Let Todd and Farah be his support system without forcing a romantic relationship into it *cough Todd and Farah cough*
3. Todd has a lot more work to do before he’s ready to handle being Dirk’s S.O., like full offense but Dirk is a high maintenance boyfriend, and Todd can barely look after himself. They would be a disaster of a relationship right now. Maybe someday in season 3 in the future. But currently, Todd still reverts right back to asshole ways when he’s in a stressful situation and when he lashes out he knows where to hit where it hurts. Dirk doesn’t need that.
4. If you aren’t on the Dior (Dirk+Thor) train, you need to get there and get there now.
