“India’s first gay film to get a child-friendly classification will have its world premiere in Sydney.

Set in a small town in southern India, Evening Shadows, is about a son coming out to his mother. Once he comes out, the film explores the upheaval it causes.

In an exclusive interview with Gay Star News, Indian filmmaker and gay activist Sridhar Rangayan said he was ‘thrilled’ with the film’s rating.

‘Our main aim when we made the film was not only to reach out to the LGBTQ community, but also mainly to parents and families in small towns,’ he said at the time.

Continuing on from the rating boon, Evening Shadows’ will premiere at the internationally renowned Queer Screen Mardi Gras Film Festival.

The film festival runs in conjunction with the Sydney Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras and is celebrating its 25th year.”
