For a while I’ve been working on a playlist of songs that sound like Mexican Funeral would play. I thought it might be useful if you’re writing fic involving the band and are trying to figure out songs you can assign to them, or if you want the sort of songs Todd might play in a fic, or just want it as background music. 

All songs are pulled from my iPod, and the genres I surveyed with alternative, rock, punk, and indie, with some combinations thereof. I put them in chronologically order, so if you’re writing a fic specifically about the beginnings of Mexican Funeral and need a list of songs that they might have played/covered from that point in time, it’s easier to choose. I tried to make a version on Playmoss, but it won’t allow playlists of more than fifteen songs, so I just stuck to Spotify. Here is the link, and below the cut are the years the songs came out in. Not included is Joan Jett’s cover of Shout and Neon Trees’s American Zero, simply because Spotify doesn’t have them, so while they’re on the list below, they are not in the playlist itself.
